Desktop Environments in linux

When you login to the linux system, the first graphical interface you see is the Desktop of your system. There are different kinds of desktop environments in Linux as mentioned in below list.
  • GNOME
  • KDE
  • LXDE
  • LXQt
Most of these desktops come bundled with operating systems. For example if you are using lubuntu, lxde comes along with it. If you are using Kubuntu, KDE plasma dektop is the default dektop environment. When you are in desktop mode, you may want to switch to terminal mode. You can use “Ctrl+Alt+F1” hot key to switch to terminal mode.To switch back to desktop mode, you can press Ctrl+Alt+F7 hot key.
