Sachin Tamhane
Sachin Tamhane from Faltan bought Sahiwal Cows from Punjab and then he produced curd and butter from the milk given by cows. There are 40 cows in his shed and he produces 85 litres of butter per month. Instead of selling raw produce, he thinks food processing can be done to earn more money. Apart from this, he is also producing oil from peanut, and other products from cow dung and urine e.g. soap, facepack, ark etc.
Avinash Bhor and Ishwar Gayakar
Avinash from Hivare village in Narayngaon harvested around 30000 carets of Tomato on 9 acres of land. Each caret is around 20kg. So total yield was 600 ton. Ishwar Gayakar, another farmer from Junnar, made more than Rs. 2 crore by selling tomatoes due to rising tomato prices in July 2023. One of the success mantra is that you need to grow veggies when prices are low and sell the produce when prices are high.
Farmers in Talegaon Dabhade
Many farmers in Talegaon Dabhade are making big money by producing flowers like Jarbera, roses, lilium etc. They are using advanced techniques like polyhouse, drip irrigation etc
Mohan Kamathe
Mohan from Indapur taluka entered into Sonchafa flower farming. He is selling the flowers at Gultekdi market in Pune. He made 2.5 Lakhs per acre.
Baban Kshirsagar
Baban from Undirwadi, yewala has been taking crop of Ginger (called as ale in marathi) since last 12 years. He is yeilding 25 ton ginger per acre. They are using Mahim-2 variety. Total cycle of ginger is around 18 months. They owned 22 acre land but on the back of success of Ginger farming, they bought another 12 acres of land.
Vaibhav Sherikar
Vaibhav from Hatkannangale in Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur harvested massive yield of Sugarcane - 100 ton per acre!! He used Nira 86032 variety of Sugarcane. With rate of Rs. 2500 per ton, he made Rs 2.5 Lakhs in 1 acre of land.
Mahadev Ghorpade
Mahadev from Nisrale, Satara also harvested massive yield of Sugarcane - 100 ton per acre!! Massive yield is possible only when sugracane is harvested after 16-18 months and soil and water testing is required before cultivation. Consistent irrigation is required as well. He used ko 86032 variety of Sugarcane. With rate of Rs. 3000 per ton, he made Rs 300000 Lakhs in 1 acre of land. Total cost per acre is 1 lakh so net profit is 2 lakhs per acre!!
