Meet These 10 Notable IPS Officers Who Are Fearless And Brave

It is common to accuse the police of working hand in hand with dishonest politicians. This reputation, however, has been drastically altered by a number of historical events, including the actions of a number of police officers who, while standing up for morality, also dared politicians to challenge them, even though they knew the consequences of doing so.

These police officers are not only shining examples of bravery and morality, but they also inspire optimism that good cops will always maintain the public's faith in the department, regardless of how tainted and corrupt the system becomes. These well-known Indian IPS officers are fearless in the face of everything:

  1. Shivdeep Lande Since 2006, Shivdeep Waman Lande has worked as an IPS officer. He apprehended numerous crooks, from the medical mafia to those who sold counterfeit cosmetics. He's put forth a lot of effort to combat eve-teasing.

Sixty percent of Shivdeep's salary is donated to humanitarian organisations that help impoverished females get married. Shivdeep Lande terrorized criminals while he was sent to Patna. Especially his strictness on the goons had made his image of a hero among the girls of college and school. He had given the girls his personal telephone number so that he could aid them anytime and also serve as a lesson to the miscreants. Shivdeep's distribution of numbers had the effect of gradually making the capital's streets safer.

  2. Sachin works out every day to maintain a fit physique and views himself as a fitness nut. Sachin represented his country in cricket in 1999 and took home a gold medal in the process. In addition, he has earned a gold medal in horseback riding. Exercise, in his opinion, reduces stress and maintains mental clarity.

Sachin Atulkar is one attractive person who sticks out from the crowd because he always dresses perfectly for the situation. As a result, he is frequently asked to social events and is the ideal subject for photographers.

  3. Manu Maharaj Millions of young people find inspiration in Bihar's "Supercop," an IPS officer from the 2005 batch. Manu Maharaj personally oversaw numerous operations in various districts. In the interim, the image of him firing an AK-47 became viral as well. This photo was taken during Manu Maharaj's Patna SSP, when he personally arrived at the scene brandishing an AK-47 to put an end to a gang conflict. While stationed in the Gaya district, he conducted numerous operations targeted at the Naxalites. Manu Maharaj's ability to manage his responsibilities in several districts has led to a great deal of craze among young people about him.

  4. Gaurav Tiwari Madhya Pradesh's 2010 batch IPS officer Gaurav Tiwari performed such a miracle in the Katni district that people fell in love with him. Gaurav Tiwari became a hero overnight thanks to the public's backing. In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Gaurav Tiwari was born into a family of farmers. Gaurav finished his engineering studies after completing his education in the hamlet. He began working for the Tata Company. However, the wish to change course persisted in his thoughts. After two years of employment with Tata, Gaurav relocated to Delhi and began preparing for the UPSC.

IPS The SP of Balaghat, Katni, and Chhindwara has been Gaurav Tiwari. His works quickly thrust him into the spotlight in each of the three regions. These three locations gained public favor since his reign was also marred by controversy. He revealed the case of illicit timber harvesting in Balaghat, which was used for smuggling. This also revealed the names of the Forest Department Rangers to the Revenue Department officials and the then-Collector. During his reign, a forged transit permit (TP) was also discovered. By registering fictitious cars, the case of vehicle trade in Balaghat was discovered.

Tiwari shut down the gambling and took charge of the illicit mining after being moved from Balaghat to Katni. After being exposed in the district for the Rs 500 crore hawala scam, he was eventually relocated allegedly under political pressure. Following this, Katni's common people and merchants protested by keeping the city closed. There was also a candle march.

  5. Sanjukta Parashar The brave cop Sanjukta Parashar is credited with eliminating sixteen insurgents. She not only captured numerous militants alive throughout her 15 months in Assam, but she also confiscated an enormous amount of weapons and ammunition. In 2008, Sanjukta Parashar was appointed as Makum's Assistant Commandant for the first time.

  6. Sonia Narang Her role model is Sonia Narang, a Chandigarh native and the daughter of a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police who was appointed to the IPS in 2002. She also won the Punjab University Gold Medal in Sociology. Narang was assigned to several major Karnataka cities during her tenure. Because of her integrity and tenacity, the crooks were compelled to flee wherever she went. She gained notoriety in 2006 when, during a demonstration between the Congress and BJP parties, she slapped BJP MLA Renukacharya and placed him behind bars. Subsequently, BJP leader Renukacharyaa was publicly slapped by IPS officer Sonia Narang, who also put him in jail.

  7. Shrestha Thakur Shreshtha Thakur, a police officer in the Syana circle of the Bulandshahr district, confronted a local BJP leader in June 2017 who was stirring up trouble with the aid of her friends. She received praise for her bravery after her video of a confrontation with a BJP representative went viral. The state administration disapproved of Shreshtha's bravery because it was displayed against its own citizens, despite the fact that she put five of them in jail for posing obstacles to carrying out official tasks. If sources are to be believed, the Chief Minister met with 11 MLAs from the area and an MP about this matter. A week later, on July 2, she was moved to Bahraich.

  8. Sangeeta Kalia Sangeeta Kalia, a retired carpenter's daughter from Fatehabad police in Haryana, attended school in Bhiwani. She sat the UPSC exam for the first time in 2005 and passed it on her third try in 2009. An IPS agent stationed in Fatehabad, Haryana, named Sangeeta Kalia defied cabinet minister Anil Vij's whims in November 2016. In a discussion concerning liquor smuggling, the minister claimed that the smuggling was taking place because of police protection. The officer disagreed, which infuriated the minister. He yelled at her to "get out." Rather of complying with the minister's directive, she declined to leave and posed the question that most politicians detest: why? "We're acting now. More than 2,500 instances have been registered. Many of these individuals relapse into smuggling after being released on bail," Kalia informed the minister. Kalia was moved afterwards. Throughout her postings in Panipat, Rewari, and Fatehabad, she introduced a number of novel projects aimed at fostering excellent police-public relations and empowering women. People had been responding to her programs in droves. One of the top IPS officers, she is well-known for her honesty. She launched several successful projects, one of which was called "Sashakt mahila sashakt samaj, aao kare ek saanjhi shuruaat."

  9. Soumya Sambasivan Soumya Sambasivan, an IPS officer, is the first female Superintendent of Police (SP) in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. She is renowned for her severe discipline and has solved six murder cases, including two cases involving blind murder mystery, during her two years of posting in the Sirmaur region. Soumya accomplished a number of these victories, which garnered significant media attention for both the Sirmaur Police and the Himachal Police. After earning her degree in biology, she pursued an M.B.A. in marketing and finance. She has also had a position in a global bank. In order to stop schoolgirls and college females from being molested, Soumya also teaches them how to produce customized sprays.

After spraying this liquid—which was made with the aid of refined nail paint, chili, and oil—once, goons continue to take the brunt of it for thirty minutes, during which time they are unable to open their eyes due to the lasting effects.

"I have always believed that developing a defence mechanism in women can be the strongest tool for them in fighting off crimes like eve-teasing. Getting them physically trained is important, but it's time-consuming. Pepper sprays are already available in the market and are used by women the world over. However, in rural areas women are not very aware of this excellent weapon for self-defence. I think this should be on the must-have list for all women, and they should carry it whenever they step out of their homes. Having a spray in their bags will boost their confidence. And this is so effective; it normally blinds a person for half an hour or so. There is no long-lasting or permanent damage to the victim," Sambasivan said.

  10. Kiran Bedi Kiran Bedi, the first woman to join the Indian Police Service in 1972, has always been a trailblazer. Throughout her career, she has held numerous key positions and introduced several innovative policing practices. She is best known for her role as Inspector General of Prisons, where she implemented significant prison reforms. Bedi's commitment to social change and public service continues to inspire many, and she remains a prominent figure in India's fight against corruption and injustice.
