Income tax filing process for NRI

Here are important documents that you need to send to Tax Agent

• Capital Gain tax statement - If you have demat account with ICICIDirect, you can get it from Tax section of website
• AIS and TIS - You can get these documents from AIS section of Income Tax website - https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/
• Bank Statement for the financial year
• Tax certificate from Housing Loan Company e.g. HDFC website
• Life Insurance premium paid certificate
• PMS capital gain statement/audit report if any

Tax agent may ask you for OTP to verify ITR. But most of the NRI's have international phone number and OTP does not come on such numbers. So in this case what you can do is login to the Income Tax Portal and then verify return yourself using bank account method. For me, EVC was sent to email address linked to bank account so I was able to verify tax return without any issues!!
